"If you know someone who has lost a child or anybody who's important to them, and you're afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died, they didn't forget they died. You're not reminding them. What you're reminding them of is that you remembered that they lived, and that's a great, great gift" - Elizabeth Edwards

Author Fair

The kids told us a few weeks ago that they had been writing some books for us that they were going to share with us during an authors fair at their school. Last night we went and it was so cute and fun to have them read their books for us and show us all that they had worked hard for. I love to watch my kids learn and grow and I’m so happy that they love to go to school every day. It was nice to chat with their teachers a little and look around more in the classroom. We also stopped by the library and looked at the books they were selling at the book fair.

Fun at the pool!

Triggers….I never know when they might come. I had one just the other day. One of my friends told everyone that she just registered her son for Kindergarten…. Bam! There it was. If Oliver had not died I would have registered him for Kindergarten this spring. But he is not here, and it hurts.

Wedding reception

Eric’s cousin DahLynne got married earlier this week. We went to the reception one night and had a great time. It was fun to meet her new husband Tait and I loved getting together and chatting with a lot of the Merrill extended family that came. I always think its fun to see what colors people pick for their weddings. I really liked the pink and gray. I loved all their decorations and the treats were super yummy too! We are so happy for DahLynne and Tait!

Ice skating again

The kids have been begging to go ice skating again, so on Monday night we went. Savannah is getting better and better at it! She loves it!

Last Saturday

We had a busy Saturday. In the morning we had softball practice and then the boys both had soccer games. In the afternoon we went to the Provo city spring festival. It was kind of cold outside and very windy! They had some fun activities for the kids to do and lots of different food trucks to try food from, yum!  After the Spring festival Eric’s mom came and watched the kids so Eric and I could go on a date. We went to a impromptu comedy night. It was lots of fun! Lots of funny jokes! On the way home we stopped for some Iceberg shakes. I love the bubblegum one! Here are some pics.

Design finalization meeting

We had our design finalization meeting on Friday, April 8th. At this meeting we went through all the things we had picked for the house, to make sure we still wanted it and that we had not changed our mind. It was nice to be able to see everything again. We still think they will start digging next month. So exciting!

Spring break-Arches National Park-Moab

We spent two fun filled days at Arches National park. The 3 hour drive there went well. We had not reserved a camp site before we went, so the first thing we needed to do was to find a spot to camp. I think we visited like 3 or 4 campsites before we found an empty camp spot. Phew. We pitched the tent and then we went to the park. The views were beautiful! The kids had fun climbing all over the rocks and we did some hikes, both short ones and a longer one. One hard thing was that it was pretty warm and so the kids drank a lot of water, which meant that we had to find bathrooms a lot. Not all the arches had bathrooms near by so that was a little stressful at times. For dinner the first night we went to a local park and barbecued hot dogs and the kids played at the playground. Nicci was so happy to finally get some smores. One of her favorite things about camping. Eric and I had dinner at the local Denny’s haha. It was yummy. We went to bed close to 10 and it got pretty cold during the night so I was glad I had dressed Tyler warm. We had forgotten his pack n play so I had to share my air mattress with Tyler, but even though it was a little uncomfortable, I loved it. I love snuggling up to him.  The next day we got up, had breakfast, took down our tent and returned to the park. We also went to their visitor center. It was nice. We bought a little hat for Tyler there. On the back it says, “junior ranger,” so cute. Anyways, we went back to the park and this time we chose a little longer hike. Tyler was in my ergo and slept during the entire hike. It was beautiful and sunny and the arches we saw were awesome. Before we left to go home we let the kids play in the sand and roll down a big hill. They loved it. Tyler kept following a boy around who had a big remote control car that he was driving in the sand. Tyler loves cars and trucks. The trip was fun and awesome, and a little exhausting of course. Camping with five kids is no joke haha. We made some fun memories though and I’m glad we went! Enjoy the pictures.
