"If you know someone who has lost a child or anybody who's important to them, and you're afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died, they didn't forget they died. You're not reminding them. What you're reminding them of is that you remembered that they lived, and that's a great, great gift" - Elizabeth Edwards

"The deep hurt is the mirror image of the deep joy that still awaits you." - Bruce C. Hafen

Preschool program

Jordan is officially done with preschool! He is so excited to start kindergarten this fall. He is really looking forward to riding on the bus with Nicci and Lionel. It’s crazy that I will have three kids in school this fall. Miss Andrea does a great job with her preschool. She is so awesome with the kids. Jordan gave her a big hug before we said bye. We got to hear them sing some songs and a poem and they were so cute.

The poem went like this

Do you remember way last fall
When I was only just this tall?
Now look at me. I’m up to here,
And my, I’ve learned a lot this year!
In fact, you think I’m really great.
That’s why I get to graduate.

Oliver’s 4th birthday!

Oliver would have been 4 on June 14th. We had a nice day. We donated some things to the bereavement program at labor and delivery. It always feels nice to do that. I got a big hug from one of the nurses and she had tears in her eyes. It was nice to talk a little bit about Oliver with her. After we stopped at the hospital we drove to a splash park in Tacoma so that the kids could play. The park was about 7 min from the cemetery. We were going to meet up with my mother in law and Brea later that afternoon. The kids had so much fun at the splash park. We stayed there for a long time and we all got sun burned. It was very peaceful as usual to go to the cemetery. The kids helped decorate the grave and we thought about our sweet boy. Nicci has been asking a lot of questions about Oliver lately. She is so sweet. Later after we got home we had some yummy strawberry shortcake. Nicci started crying and said she wished Oliver could have been there with us. So sweet but also sad. We also released some balloons for him. The kids love doing this. It was a really nice day remembering our little boy.

Last day of T ball and Softball

The kids had their last t ball and softball games this last Saturday. This season has been so fun and they have learned so much! I’m so glad the boys were able to be on the same team and that Nicci and her friend Shanna could play together as well. It’s been so fun to hang out with Eric and Carrissa and their kids every practice and game. It wouldn’t have been the same without them. 🙂 The kids were excited that grandma Tracey and grandpa Kevin and aunt Brea came to watch them. Some other family came too. The kids did great in their last games and after they got the trophies they had been looking forward to getting all season. The kids coaches have been so nice and great with the kids. They are such great people. After the softball game was over we all went to Woodfire pizza in downtown. There we had some yummy pizza and cupcakes and also had a little ceremony where the girls got their trophies. One other sweet thing was that the coaches took turns saying something nice about all the girls. It was fun to watch them look so happy and proud. It’s been a great season, looking forward to next spring when we will do this again!

The girls were so good at cheering each other on. They had a few cute songs they sang. This one we thought was so funny. Whenever one of the girls almost hit the ball or just barely touched the ball with the bat, the girls started singing. “You got a piece of it, you got a piece of it, now get the R, E, S,T, rest of it!!” Another song they often sang was, “We are the champions, the mighty, mighty, champions, every where we go, people want to know, who we are, so we tell them, we are the champions!!”

Nicci hits the ball!

4 years…

Today it’s been 4 years since we said hello and goodbye to our sweet baby Oliver. We love and we miss him. Not a day goes by that we don’t think or talk about him. Happy 4th birthday Oliver!

My little one, my dear one, my love,

you will be with me forever:

in the thin sunlight and long shadows

of a clear winter’s day;

in the dawn excitement of birds

sounding in early spring;

in the rustle of heavy-leafed trees

in a mid-summer’s night;

in the rich aromas and bright colors

of a warm autumn day.

All that is excellent,

brushed by Life’s

brightness and shadow,

will remind me of you,

My little one, my dear one, my love.

You will beat with my heart,

see through my eyes,

hear with my ears,

feel on my skin.

Because your soul is mingled with my soul, forever,

My little one, my dear one, my love.

Field day!

On Friday the kids had field day at school. I went and watched last year too. This year it was a little chilly at first but it warmed up a little after a while. They had a lot of fun! Nicci won 1 st place in the fox tail throwing game and Lionel got third place in the sack race. Way to go kids!!

Kindergarten program

Lionel has two more days of kindergarten, then he is done!! He has loved school and his teacher has been amazing. He has learned so much and really blossomed this year! He has had some great friends in his class. On Thursday afternoon they had a cute program where they sang songs and showed us some of the work they have done during the year. I was so happy I was able to be there and watch him. Afterward we enjoyed some treats outside and chatted. Lionel is ready for 1st grade!

Mrs B has been such a great teacher!

Funny puppies

People are allowed to bring their dogs to Eric’s job. Today they had two cute puppies running around. So funny!

Eric’s birthday!

Eric turned 33 yesterday! Last year he had his birthday off from work but we are trying to save all the pto days for our upcoming vacation so poor guy had to work this year. Eric always wants a blackberry pie for his birthday and he also requested lasagna. The kids were excited to give him the presents they got for him. Eric is such a great husband and dad. He does so much for us and we are so grateful for him! We love you Eric!!

Matthew’s baptism

Last Saturday we attended Matthew’s baptism. It was a nice, sunny day spent with family! The baptism was very sweet and after we went to Scott and Sarah’s house and hung out. We ate hamburgers, hot dogs, water melon and cookies. The kids had so much fun playing with all their friends and it was nice to just sit and chat with everyone.
