"If you know someone who has lost a child or anybody who's important to them, and you're afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died, they didn't forget they died. You're not reminding them. What you're reminding them of is that you remembered that they lived, and that's a great, great gift" - Elizabeth Edwards

Touch a truck

The kids got to go and touch and go inside some cool trucks and emergency vehicles today at a fun family activity in Poulsbo. We met some friends there and the kids had lots of fun. I think their favorite thing to look at was the ambulance and the police car. They pretended that one of them was the police officer and the other kids were the bad guys. So cute. They also loved the garbage truck and kept honking the horn. Fun, fun!

Kitsap fair!

We had a ¬†fun day at the Kitsap fair on Friday. I was just a little bummed that I forgot my good camera so I only have blurry phone pictures. We look forward to going to this fair every year. The kids loved to look at all the animals. Savannah loved the dogs and the cats. The kids got to go on a ride and eat some cotton candy. They had a hard time deciding which ride to go on but later decide to go on an airplane one. They were all so cute. I love to see them so happy. Now we look forward to the Washington state fair in Puyallup in September! Every year when I go to the Kitsap fair now I think of how I went into labor with Savannah after walking around at this fair two years ago. Ah, memories. ūüôā

Weekend getaway to Victoria BC

Eric and I have been wanting to go and visit Canada ever since we moved to WA. We only live 1 hour from the ferry and it only takes 90 minutes to get to Victoria BC. This year for our 8th wedding anniversary, we decided to go. Thanks to everyone who helped watch our kids so that we could go, especially my mother in law who came and stayed for 2 days with the kids! We left on Friday morning and drove to Port Angeles where we had some lunch and just walked around downtown a little waiting for the ferry. Then we went on to the ferry. Friday was kind of a foggy and not very warm day and we were hoping we were going  to get at least one day with sunny weather. We were lucky that both Saturday and Sunday turned out to be sunny. We only had a rental car for Saturday, so Friday and Sunday we did a lot of walking!! Downtown Victoria was very nice and felt very touristy. There were a lot of tourists there this weekend because they had some Dragon boat races that took place while we were there. Here are some pictures from our trip.

Downtown Port Angeles. Waiting to board the ferry.

The first day we checked into our hotel and started to explore downtown. We went to Chinatown and looked at the little shops there. We enjoyed a yummy dinner at an Italian restaurant. Then we went and watched a movie!

The next day we went and got our rental car and headed to Craigarrdoch castle. It was a fun experience to walk through the castle and look at the cool architecture and extraordinary details. It made me think of Downton Abbey a lot!

After we were done at the castle we started to drive and we saw this cute little deer. I also took a picture of the license plate of our rental car. I liked that it said, “Beautiful British Columbia” on it.

Victoria BC9

We headed down to the Marina and walked around and looked at all the cute little boat houses they had there. We also sat and enjoyed the sun and the view at a nearby park and just talked.

Victoria BC10

Victoria BC11

We saw this boat house that was yellow and blue with a Swedish flag on the outside and this little box with the words “kn√§ckebr√∂d” on it.

Victoria BC12

This was the black ball ferry that we went on to get to Victoria.

Victoria BC13

In the afternoon we headed to the Butchart Gardens. Lots of people have told us how beautiful these gardens are and they were so right. There were so many different flowers and plants! Many I have never seen before. It was so nice to walk around and enjoy the beauty around us. We also had some dinner there and got to listen to some live music.

On our way home we saw another deer that only had one antler.  Eric also saw this cool black car he wanted me to take a picture of (It was  a Ferrari and I was passing him! ~Eric). We wanted to stop and get some ice cream and on the way there we saw this crazy guy on a scooter drive over the median and into on coming traff. There were like 4 police cars chasing him (If you can say chasing when they were going like 20 mph). He was not wearing a helmet and was just smiling big, like he was having a lot of fun. I wish I could have taken a pic.

Victoria BC27

This was our breakfast the last day. Yummy french toast. Not the best I have ever had though.

Here are some pictures from downtown Victoria. This is the British Columbia Legislature Building.

We went on a tour of the British Columbia Legislature Building. It was beautiful inside!

The second guy with the big brown hair was a little crazy while he was doing his show and kept saying things that would offend different people in the audience so that they left. Eric got to help him with one of his tricks.

Victoria was so beautiful!

I am so happy that we went on this vacation. It was so nice to just be alone and explore a new city together! The kids did great at home with grandma and were happy to see us when we came back!

Sisters come to visit

We had a nice visit with Eric’s family last weekend. We had Eric’s two sisters come to visit and two of the kids cousins. It’s always fun to chat and catch up with them. I wish we all lived closer so that we could see them more often.

One night all us adults went out to a Japanese steak house to have dinner while my mother in law stayed at our house and played with the kids. They had hot dogs, smores and other yummy things. They all slept outside in a tent that night. The kids had so much fun and did great sleeping in the tent. ¬†The next day we went to Penrose park and enjoyed the warm weather and the view. Jordan collected lots of sand dollars. ¬†We also hung out at my in laws house for the afternoon and the kids had so much fun playing with their cousins. We also celebrated Nicci’s birthday again. She was excited to get some more horse toys.

Beautiful night in Port Townsend

Last week we went to Port Townsend one afternoon. It is beautiful there and such a cute little town down right by the water. First we stopped by the beach and let the kids swim and play. The kids enjoyed seeing a lot of sailing boats. Then we went over to look at a light house that was close by. It was cool for us all to see. ¬†Then we headed downtown and walked around a little. For dinner we enjoyed some yummy pizza at the “Waterfront pizza.” I always want to go there when we go to Port Townsend.

Nicci’s 7th birthday!

Our little Nicci Love turned 7 on Wednesday! Sometimes I can’t believe that I have a 7 year old. 7 years ago I became a mom for the first time. Here is a link to Nicci’s birth story. Nicci woke up to lots of presents in her bed. Then at 10 we went to a friend who owns 4 horses so that Nicci could ride one of the horses for an hour or so. Nicci LOVES horses so much and was thrilled! She is such a great girl, so funny to be around and she loves to talk to us about all sorts of things and always asks lots of questions about everything! She loves animals, to read, make crafts, swim, play with her siblings and friends and much more.

A day in Seattle

We had a nice day in Seattle yesterday. The company Eric works for had invited us to take the duck tour of Seattle. It was so much fun! ¬†Before we went on the duck tour we spent a little bit of time at the Pacific Science Center so that the kids could play. We walked all the way there from the ferry and I was so beat when we got there. We also went to a fun splash park close by and the kids had fun there. Then it was time for the duck tour! It starts by driving around downtown Seattle and the “captain” told us some interesting historic facts about Seattle. Then we went out on the water and it was so beautiful! Our captain was very nice and made a lot of funny jokes. Savannah fell asleep for a few minutes while we were riding on the duck boat but woke up before we were done. After the tour we went to Pike place market where I bought a bouquet of flowers. it was so hard to choose because they are all so beautiful! Then we walked back to the ferry and went home. What a fun day!

Missing him….

“I didn’t just lose a baby. I lost an entire lifetime with her.”‘ Franchesca Cox

Last week when I was at my Ob doctor for a regular check up, she told me that she had delivered a full term stillborn the previous week. While she was in the delivery room, she had noticed some things that we had donated in memory of Oliver on his birthday this past June, that had been given to this family. It warmed my heart that we were able to help this family a little…..but I must admit I cried in the car on the way home. My heart ached for this family.¬†How I wish they could have been able to keep their baby and watch him/her grow up. How my heart ached for them because I know the pain they are in right now. I wish I could make it all better. I wish no one had to lose their baby.
