"If you know someone who has lost a child or anybody who's important to them, and you're afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died, they didn't forget they died. You're not reminding them. What you're reminding them of is that you remembered that they lived, and that's a great, great gift" - Elizabeth Edwards

Oliver’s birthday!

My little boy would have been 3 this June. We all miss him so much. It made me a little emotional to think that he would have started preschool this fall, started swimming lessons and been able to take the same classes as Lionel and Jordan at the YMCA. It would have been awesome. For Oliver’s birthday this year we decided to donate some things to the labor and delivery bereavement program. We donated some stuffed animals, plaster kits, blankets, outfits and books. It felt so nice to do something in honor of our little guy. Later in the day we had some cupcakes and watched Oliver’s slideshow together.

We went to the cemetery to spend some time there. It’s interesting how at home I feel at the cemetery…especially in the baby land section…I always take time to walk around and read the other grave markers and think of all those babies and their families.

Another baby had a birthday a couple of days before Oliver and the kids were admiring all the balloons.

Yesterday we went downtown Poulsbo to celebrate Midsummer. I love this holiday. When we first got there we made some flower wreaths and listened to some music. Then it was time to raise the midsummer pole. The kids like to watch this every year. We all danced a little around the midsummer pole. It’s always fun for me to hear all the familiar songs I used to hear as a kid when we celebrated midsummer in Sweden. When Savvy got a little tired of dancing, I stepped out and took some pictures of Eric dancing with the kids. So cute.

T ball party

We had a fun end of season party for the kids t ball team. The kids got to play at a park, we had some yummy food and then they got a trophy and a medal. The coach was so awesome and said something nice about each individual child. He really has been a great coach. The kids have loved playing t ball.

Last day of preschool

Lionel and Jordan had their last day of preschool on Wednesday. Eric was working from home that day and I was happy he was able to come and watch them too. Lionel is now all done with preschool and all ready for kindergarten! Jordan has one more year of preschool left. I’m so proud of them and everything they have learned this year!  The boys have loved preschool so much and they are going to miss it. Miss A has been a wonderful teacher. She cares so much for the kids.

This video is cute. All the kids got to say what they wanted to be when they grew up. Lionel said spiderman and Jordan said a dad. So cute!

Happenings lately….

The Lea family had a fun talent show earlier in June. Eric and the kids did a little skit while Savannah and I watched. We had so much fun. We got to watch a lot of awesome performances during the night! At the end we had some delicious dutch oven desserts. My favorite was the smores one. So good! Fun times!

We were invited to a restaurant to surprise and celebrate Ruth’s birthday the other night. It was a trivia night at the restaurant and we had a great time!  Our team was called Sweet 16 plus 24 like it said on her balloon. Happy 40th birthday Ruth!

Fun night in the backyard.

We were invited to a graduation barbecue to celebrate our friend Roarke’s graduation on Monday night. It was a wonderful night and the kids played and had fun while the adults talked. The food was so good! We are so happy for him and his family!

Eric’s birthday!

Eric turned 32 on Tuesday the 10th. He had a nice birthday. He took the day off so that he could relax and do whatever he wanted to. At night we went out to dinner and a movie. The place we went out for dinner to was pretty bad though. It was a Taqueria and Eric had checked the ratings and almost everyone said the place was yummy…..but we didn’t like the food at all. It was bland, dry and yucky. We really enjoyed the yummy ice cream cake we had at home though. It was so yummy! Eric is so good at making ice cream cakes. We watched the movie Edge of Tomorrow, it was a good movie!

Happy 3rd birthday to our Oliver!

And our love will find you, wherever you are…”

Last day of 1st grade!

I can’t believe Nicci is done with first grade. She absolutely loves going to school. She cried a little when she came home today because she said she was going to miss her teacher and all her friends so much. I love seeing her so happy in school. She has so many good friends that she loves to play with. Her teacher has been so nice and helpful. I love to watch my kids learn and grow. It will be nice to have summer break now though. It’s nice not to have to pack the lunch box every morning and hurry out to the bus. Nicci can’t wait to start second grade this fall!

Last morning at the bus stop. These are the sweetest kids. They all are so nice to each other and they play freeze tag together every morning while they wait for the bus.

Kidimu birthday bash

Last time we went to the Kidimu birthday bash was three years ago, about a week or so before I had Oliver. This year when we got there the kids got to watch a reptile man first. It was kind of funny. When he was holding the little crocodile it started peeing all over the place and everyone laughed. After the show was done the kids could pet some of the reptiles if they wanted. Savannah was very interested in the tortoise. The kids got their face painted and they also had a police car and a fire truck there, but they left before the kids really got to look at them up close. We spent some time inside the museum too and let the kids play and have fun!
