"If you know someone who has lost a child or anybody who's important to them, and you're afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died, they didn't forget they died. You're not reminding them. What you're reminding them of is that you remembered that they lived, and that's a great, great gift" - Elizabeth Edwards

Visiting friends

On Sunday we went and had dinner with our friends the Melvin’s. We had not seen them for a while so it was fun to catch up. We love hanging out with them. Right before dinner started the kids were playing in the backyard. They stepped into the woods behind their house and all of a sudden all of them come running and screaming. They had stepped on a yellow jacket underground nest. Poor Jordan was stung 3 times and Aydrey was stung 4 times. I felt so bad for them. Jordan kept crying and explaining how the bee “bit him.” One of the bees wouldn’t let go of his leg when Eric tried to brush it off. When it finally let go, blood was coming out. They calmed down after a little while, and we had dinner, dessert and the kids played. I was surprised how fast they bounced back after being stung.  I hate yellow jackets! I am so scared of them. The night was really fun though and we always wish the Melvin’s lived closer to us!

Our Week

Here are some things we have done this week. The kids went to a preschool camp two mornings this week at the YMCA. They really liked it. It was nice to be able to get some errands done.

Melanie and I took the kids to watch a puppet show, Carter Family Marionettes: Aladdin and His Magic Lamp on Tues. The kids did great until the last 10 minutes when Jordan got a little restless.

For playgroup this week we went to the playground at Nicc’s new school. The kids rode their bikes, played and had fun.

Amie and I threw a baby shower for Jaime on Wednesday night. When the shower started, Jaime mentioned that she had, had some mild contractions since 1pm that day. Through out the shower she kept having mild contractions. She eventually started to time them. At the end of the shower, her water broke! I hurried and drove her home, and Laura followed so that she could take me back to Amie’s house. They left for the hospital shortly after. Later, Jaime told us that their sweet baby Tyler was born 17 minutes after arriving at the hospital. 46 minutes after her water broke at the shower. So crazy! He decided to come so fast! We are so happy for the Lea family!

The next day I went and visited Jaime at the hospital. It was so fun to see little Tyler!

On Friday I was watching three sweet little kids while their parents went to Seattle for the day and celebrated their 10 year anniversary. We had a nice day! Oh and Nicci lost her second tooth.

On Friday night we went and watched a free movie out where my in laws live. They played Wreck it Ralph and the kids had a lot of fun with grandma Tracey, aunt Brea, Sophia and their cousins. We came home at 12 am but we are so glad we went.

This morning I walked with M.E.N.D in the Whaling day parade in Silverdale. We hope we were able to reach some people that might be grieving and need a safe place to come and share their feelings.

Talent Show

The Lea’s invited us and some other friends to a really fun family home evening activity on Monday. Everyone that wanted to could share a talent or do something funny. The boys got shy and wouldn’t perform so to help Nicci feel more comfortable, Eric danced with her. It was so sweet!  Eric and I did a silly skit about bananas and bandanas. We enjoyed some yummy treats and the kids played and the adults talked until it was time for the kids to go to bed. We had a great time! We are so happy the Lea’s moved here!

Savannah had fun dancing with Troy.

Some of the kids dancing. Nicci was all into it but the boys wouldn’t dance, they get so shy sometimes haha.

More riding lessons

The kids love to ride on horses. They get so excited every time its time for riding lessons. We go about twice a month. Sometimes I bring all of the kids and sometimes Nicci and I will just go. It’s a lot easier that way because the boys have lots of energy and like to run around everywhere.  In the beginning of June I went with just Nicci and we got to ride Sugar and Barby and I got to canter with Sugar. It was so much fun! Yesterday the kids got go help give the horses their breakfast and they thought that was a lot of fun.  Here are some pics from yesterday.

Fun days

We have had a had a busy week. Here are some fun things we have done.

On Tuesday I met up with Jaime and her kids and we went and had lunch at a place downtown Poulsbo called Cuppa Bella. We had some yummy chicken ceasar wraps and some Italian soda. They had some toys for the kids to play with there which helped distract them a little. Afterward we went to a park and the kids had fun playing there for a while.

On Saturday we stopped by the farmers market and met up with some friends. They had some tractors at the farmers market that day for the kids to look at and try to sit on. They also got balloons and got some cute pictures painted on their arms. Poor Nicci lost her balloon and it flew away. We bought some yummy cherries too.

After the farmers market we went and looked at different garage sales. We found a lot of fun stuff for the kids! We got some great deals. I’m happy we were able to find a birthday gift for Nicci too. The kids have been wanting scooters for a while and we were able to find three for a super cheap price. They have been having fun with them.

In the afternoon they had a pioneer day activity at church. We ate lots of yummy food, talked and played. We had a great time. Before we went home the kids had a water fight.

Eric made a really yummy strawberry, rhubarb smoothie the other night. SO good!

On Friday we met up with some friends at our community beach. When it was almost time to go home, the boys found a huge, dead crab. I didn’t realize they had found it until they had been carrying it around for a while. When we came home they all stunk SO bad. They all smelled like dead crab, yuck!

7 years

On Monday, July 8th, Eric and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary. When Eric came home from work he gave me some beautiful stargazer lilies. I had stargazer lilies in my wedding bouquet and every year for our anniversary Eric gets me some. The babysitter came and we went out to dinner. The place we had picked to eat at was closed that day so we were a little bummed. We ended up going to Azteca. After dinner we went and walked on Clear creek trail. It was nice to just walk, hold hands and talk without being interrupted. Eric surprised me with a beautiful poem that he had written for me and he also gave me a beautiful necklace. He is so sweet! We also went and had some dessert before we went home. It was a great night!
