"If you know someone who has lost a child or anybody who's important to them, and you're afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died, they didn't forget they died. You're not reminding them. What you're reminding them of is that you remembered that they lived, and that's a great, great gift" - Elizabeth Edwards

"The deep hurt is the mirror image of the deep joy that still awaits you." - Bruce C. Hafen

I made this recipe tonight. It was so good!

Our Oliver Bear

A couple of months after Oliver died someone told me about an organization that makes weighted teddy bears for families who have lost a baby. I went to http://www.mollybears.com/ and ordered a bear. The waiting list was very long, about 16 to 20 months. I had almost forgotten that I had ordered one and then it came in the mail today! It weighs exactly 3 lbs 6 oz just like Oliver did. I love it. It made my cry when I held it because it made me remember how it felt to hold Oliver in my arms. What a wonderful organization!

Song

A beautiful song that makes me think of my Oliver.

I don’t know why God allows fires and floods
I don’t know how He can stand by and watch a mother lose her son
Such things are too great for me to understand
No, I don’t understand

Beautiful, beautiful, oh how beautiful
The soul that finds a song to sing
Despite the pain and suffering
Beautiful, beautiful, oh how beautiful
The heart that brings an offering
of praise before the One who makes all things
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful

Maybe it’s not my place to understand
the workings of God, His divine and mysterious perfect plan
All I know is that He’ll work things out for good somehow
He’ll make it good somehow

The One who shields our eyes from understanding why
catches every tear we cry
And someday, He’ll make all things…

Beautiful, so beautiful

Beautiful, beautiful, oh how beautiful
Our souls will have a new song to sing
No more pain and suffering
Beautiful, beautiful, oh how beautiful
When every heart will bring an offering
of praise before the One who makes all things

Sunny

It was sunny this afternoon so I took the kids out and let them ride their bikes. I also cleaned the van. Savannah sat in the stroller and watched.

Our Trip to Utah!

Eric’s cousin Melissa got married in the Bountiful temple last Saturday. Eric, Carrissa, Savannah and I flew down to Utah on Wednesday to spend a few days there. We had an amazing friend watch Nicci, Lionel and Jordan Wednesday through Friday and my awesome sister-in-law watched the kids Friday through Sunday. We missed being away from the kids but they did great! Savannah did great on the flight there and only cried for a minute or two in the beginning. We stayed with Carrissa’s brother and sister in law. They were awesome and so nice. We had a lot of fun during our trip. We went downtown SLC to the City Creek Mall, we did some shopping at Deseret Book and went to Temple Square. We had planned to go to the SLC temple but it was closed. It seems like it’s always closed when we want to try to go there, haha. 😉 We were so bummed. We went to some other stores and found some cute clothes.  We met up with Eric’s sister Tiffany and went out to eat. We went to the Cheese cake factory, Cafe Rio, Nielsen’s custard, Cafe Zupa and one night we had some pizza with some of Carrissa’s in laws. We stayed up late some nights and talked and watched some shows. We had fun dancing to “Just dance” on their xbox one night. We got to see my sister Narcisse for a little bit and we also got to go to church with Tiffany and later see her house. We helped to set up for the reception the day before the wedding. Melissa’s and Sam’s wedding day was so nice. They got married in the same temple Eric and I was married in so that felt very special. I got a little teary eyed when I thought of our wedding day. It was so fun to see so much family and spend some time together.

One funny thing that happened was that we almost missed our flight home. We were eating some dinner and forgot to make sure what time it was, so when we started to walk towards the gate, we heard them announce on speakers that it was the final boarding call for the flight to Seattle. Needless to say we started running and made it on the plane, but man that was a little crazy! 🙂 Savannah was very tired on the flight home and I think her ears were bothering her because she cried a lot when the airplane was landing. Poor girl. We got home around 10.30 pm and it was so nice to be home again. The kids were so happy to see us this morning and it feels so nice to be loved. We are going to have a little party for the kids tonight to celebrate us being home again and the kids doing well while we were gone. Thank you so much Melanie and Jennifer for watching our kids and making this trip possible. We love you!

Valentine’s Dinner

Last night we attended a Valentine’s dinner with, live music and free babysitting at church. I think 8 couples came.  It was a very fun night with delicious food and dessert. We also played a fun game. 🙂

Working Out

I feel pretty proud of myself. For three weeks now, I have been working out 6 days a week. I do Zumba twice a week, the elliptical at the Y twice a week and do the 30 day shred dvd with Jillian Michaels at home twice a week. I feel so much better, more energetic and I have lost some weight. Today I tried on a pair of pants I haven’t worn since before I got pregnant with Oliver and they fit! I have been out of shape for so long, that it really was time for me to do something about it. 🙂 I have a weight goal that I’m going to try to reach by summer and I feel confident that I will be able to do it!
