"If you know someone who has lost a child or anybody who's important to them, and you're afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died, they didn't forget they died. You're not reminding them. What you're reminding them of is that you remembered that they lived, and that's a great, great gift" - Elizabeth Edwards

"The deep hurt is the mirror image of the deep joy that still awaits you." - Bruce C. Hafen

I love peppermint bark! We bought a big tub of it at Costco. So good!

Super Saturday

We had a fun Super Saturday a few weeks ago. I made two things. The first one is a canvas with a picture of the kids and surrounding it is the Proclamation to the world. The second thing is a match box calendar in a jar. Every day in December, we can open one of the match boxes and in it is a piece of paper with a fun activity to do as a family.

A song

I listened to this song a lot, right after I lost Oliver. I used to feel so homesick for heaven during those first awful months after he passed. All I wanted in those moments was to be with him again.

Homesick by Mercy Me

You’re in a better place, I’ve heard a thousand times
And at least a thousand times I’ve rejoiced for you
But the reason why I’m broken, the reason why I cry
Is how long must I wait to be with you

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home’s where my heart is then I’m out of place
Lord, won’t you give me strength to make it through somehow
I’ve never been more homesick than now

We put up our Christmas decorations! The kids were so excited!

Kids and Santa

The kids got to meet Santa when we went to Walmart on Saturday. They gave us a 5×7 picture for free.

Our Thanksgiving!

This year we drove 6 hours to Spokane to visit Eric’s mom and her husband Paul. Eric’s brother Corey and his family came too, as well as Eric’s sisters Tiffany and Cassie. It was so nice to be there and spend time together. The kids had so much fun playing with all their cousins. They played hard all day and crashed at night. The kids loved grandma Kat’s dogs, especially little Bunny. We got to look at a lot of old photographs. I loved to see pictures of Eric when he was a little kid. He was so stinkin cute. We enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner and just talked and had a nice time. After the kids went to bed we played “Game of things.” It was so much fun and we laughed a lot. The kids played outside in the front yard a lot and had a blast. The kids loved to help grandma Kat in the kitchen. They also loved to look at her bird. We played Mario kart on the wii and went to walmart to look at some of the Black Friday sales. ¬†Nicolina cried when we drove away in the car. She didn’t want to leave.

We have been giving Savannah bottles of formula right before bed and its been amazing to see how much better she sleeps. We feed her, swaddle her, give her, her pacifier and put her to bed while she is still awake so that she learns how to fall asleep by herself. Usually she falls asleep without any fussing. Last night she slept from 9.30 pm to 6.30 am without waking up to eat. She slept for 9 hours straight! My other kids never did this until they were a lot older. I know her sleeping patterns will change once she starts teething and other things, but for right now I will enjoy all the sleep I get!

Thanksgiving feast at preschool

Today Lionel’s preschool class had a Thanksgiving feast. We got to come and listen to them sing. They are so cute.

Video of Savvy

Here is a cute video of Savannah.

The last month or so Savannah has started to be a lot calmer and happier. The evenings are so much better than they used to. She is like a completely different baby. It’s so nice she is starting to have a schedule now. ¬† She will be 3 months next week. These first 3 months have really flown by! Everywhere we go people always compliment her hair. We all love her hair!

This picture cracks me up. I took a pic right as she spit up.
