"If you know someone who has lost a child or anybody who's important to them, and you're afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died, they didn't forget they died. You're not reminding them. What you're reminding them of is that you remembered that they lived, and that's a great, great gift" - Elizabeth Edwards

"The deep hurt is the mirror image of the deep joy that still awaits you." - Bruce C. Hafen

Fun at the Park

On Saturday Eric went out of town with his friend Troy to go to a Linux conference. It was a nice day so we went to the park with Melanie and her kids. We stayed for more than 4 hours and the kids had a lot of fun!

Pampered Chef Party

On Friday night I hosted a pampered chef party. It was a lot of fun. Nine friends came and we made a delicious chicken enchilada pizza, guacamole, a sparkling citrus cooler drink and brownies. We got to see a lot of the great products from pampered chef. I didn’t get any pics but it was a great night!

Fun Playdate

Today we went to my friend Frida’s house. She is from Sweden too and it’s always nice to see her! She has 3 kids and two of them are very close in age to Nicci and Lionel.  She has a lot of animals and the kids had a lot of fun.

Fun with friends

On Monday the weather was beautiful and the kids had fun with Shanna.

Garden

Our strawberry plants and rhubarbs are growing a lot! When we got the strawberry plants they were all brown and now they are green and looking so much better. I can’t wait to make rhubarb and strawberry pies this summer.

Weekend

This weekend we have been very busy putting together a wooden swing set we bought for the kids. Eric started on Friday night and continued to work all day Saturday. It was a gorgeous, sunny day and the kids were outside most of the day. Both Nicci and Eric burned their necks. We just didn’t realize that we should have put some sun lotion on them…oops. Eric worked ALL day and was so tired at the end. He did a great job!! The kids love it!!

Books

I have read two books this week. One is called “Heaven is Here” by Stephanie Nielson. It was a great book and I couldn’t put it down! Another book I read is called “Gone too Soon” by an LDS author named Sherri Devashrayee Wittwer. It was probably the best baby loss book I have read so far. It takes an in depth look at the emotions of loss, and the LDS doctrines around child loss.  She describes everything so well, especially the stages of grief. It was amazing to read this book and there were many times when I just thought, “wow she really gets it,” or “this is truly how I feel/felt.” She also has some great advice on how to cope with grief/life after loss, new pregnancy etc. She describes so many of the complex and crazy emotions people often experience after they lose a baby. It’s always nice to be reassured that what I am feeling/have been feeling is normal. Yay for good books.

20 Week belly pic

I am 20 weeks along today! Half way done! I am starting to feel little Savannah move and kick more and more. The kids love to come and give my belly a hug and asks tons of questions about the baby. Nicolina was so cute last week. One night we were at Target and decided to buy a cute onesie for the baby. Nicci wanted to hold the onesie in the car on the way home and when we got home I told her to put the onesie in her closet. Later that night before Eric and I went to bed we checked on all the kids. When we got to Nicci’s room we saw that she had fallen asleep holding Savannah’s onesie….it was so cute…! They are so excited about this baby and so are we!

Oliver’s Tree

I take my kids to a music makers activity every Wednesday morning. We have gone to this activity for many years. Last year when we had just received Oliver’s diagnosis, some friends from music makers came and planted this tree for us. It makes me teary eyed just thinking about it. It made me feel so loved. I am so happy to see it bloom now. The flowers smell so good. 🙂

Great Wolf Lodge

We had a great weekend at the Great wolf lodge! We went with Kevin, Tracey, their kids, Jennifer and her kids and had a lot of fun! We stayed one night at the Great wolf lodge and everything was so nice. Thanks to my in laws for taking us!!
