"If you know someone who has lost a child or anybody who's important to them, and you're afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died, they didn't forget they died. You're not reminding them. What you're reminding them of is that you remembered that they lived, and that's a great, great gift" - Elizabeth Edwards

Christmas Tree and Jordan Trying to Walk

We put up all our Christmas decorations a few days ago. The kids are very excited and love to pull off the ornaments from the tree. Nicci and Lionel keeps saying, “Christmas is here, Christmas is here!”  This year we also put some lights outside. All the snow has melted away now and it’s been raining instead.

Jordan is trying so hard to learn to walk. If he knows we are watching him, he will only walk like 3 or 4 steps because he laughs so hard that he falls when he sees we are watching him. However, when he thinks that no one is watching, he will walk across the room. He is so cute.

Thanksgiving!

We had a wonderful thanksgiving with lots of yummy food and pie. We were stuffed when we came home. Tracey also made us an extra pumpkin pie that we got to take home, yay! Our power came on again on Wednesday afternoon our neighbor said. It was nice to come home to a warm house. When we told Nicci we were going home she looked confused and said, “Why? Our house is cold mommy.” So cute. We told her that the house was warm now and all the lights work again. I’m so grateful we were able to stay a few days at Kevin and Tracey during this storm, Thank you!

Helping grandma with the dishes. They had so much fun! They also got to watch and help grandpa make breakfast.

Nicci sat like this with Mei Mei for about an hour while watching a movie

No Power!

We lost our power on Monday night around 6 pm. They say that about 50 000 people in our county lost their power. Some got their roofs destroyed by trees falling on their houses too.We had to light candles and use a flashlight because the house was so dark. We had to empty our fridge and freezer and put the food outside in the snow so that it wouldn’t spoil.

We have a pellet fireplace but it needs electricity so we had no heat! We spent a very cold night in our house bundled up in a lot of blankets. We slept fine but when we woke up it was 48 degrees in our house, (7 C). The next day we decided to go to my in laws house since they still had power. Another reason was that we heard that power might not come on until Friday!!! They are being hopeful that almost everyone will have their  power back by today or tomorrow. I certainly hope so….I hate being cold and the whole experience was pretty awful. I’m grateful that we could come and live here for a few days. The kids love to be at grandma and grandpas house.

The kids were so confused Monday night when all the lights turned off. They kept trying to turn them on and get their movie to start again. Lionel got a little scared and was confused the next morning when we told him he had to wear a coat inside. He does not like any big changes in his life….poor little guy. I hope our fish will survive these next few days….their water was so cold yesterday and nothing works in the aquarium.

Tomorrow we are going to celebrate Thanksgiving here, it will be a lot of fun!  I sure hope most families will have their power back on tomorrow….it would be sad to celebrate thanksgiving with no electricity…

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

It’s snowing!! The kids are so excited about the snow and Nicci keeps saying that she wants to go out and skate in the snow. (Like Barbie does in “Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus” movie). We didn’t get any snow last year so I am excited as well. This morning we had Lionel’s 2 year check up and it was a little scary to drive there on the very slippery freeway.  Lionel did great at the drs office. Normally he starts crying as soon as we get there but today he was fine until he got his shot.

After the drs appointment we went and had joy school and we talked about the snow and the kids got to make pine cone turkeys.

Normally it takes Eric 10 minutes to drive home from work, but today with the snow and everything, it took him 1 1/2 hours!! There were so many crazy drivers out there he said. CRAZY!

Lionel stats:

Height: 34 inches (50th %).

Weight: 27 lbs 8 oz (50th %)

Our house this morning….we have a lot more snow now!

This afternoon we had more snow….Lionel wanted to wear Nicci’s boots

Me and my Love

We had fun and took some pictures using the tripod last night before we went on our date. The musical was really good and we laughed a lot! The kids did great with the babysitter…well except for Jordan who cried a little before it was time for bed. Today I got some cute fabric so I can finally start making my Christmas curtains for the kitchen. Yay!

Gifts in a Jar!

We had a fun R.S activity last night. We got to put together some ingredients in jars for different treats that we can give away as gifts. I made two, one for regular brownies and on for peanut butter brownies.

We started to potty train Lionel this week and so far so good. He is doing fine with pee but we still need to work on getting him to poop on the potty. It’s a lot of work…. I don’t like potty training….but I will be happy when its done.

Tomorrow Eric and I are going out on a date! We are going to see a play at the high school called, “White Christmas.” The kids will be home with a really nice girl from our ward.

Weekend!

On Saturday night Mindy, Carrissa, Elise and I had a “girls night out!”  First we went to Red Robin and had a yummy appetizer and some smoothies and milkshakes. Afterward we went to the mall and I found two cute shirts. It was a lot of fun and something we need to do more often!

Now, here are some pics of the kids in some of their new clothes we got them. We also did the boys hair!

Some Fun

Last night I was home alone because Eric was out with the missionaries. I gave the kids a bath and while I dried off Jordan and Lionel, Nicci went to the kitchen, pulled out a chair, grabbed a popcorn bag and put it in the microwave, with the plastic wrapper still on, and turned on the microwave. Crazy girl! It drives me crazy that she has figured out how to open the baby gate into the kitchen. Some adults even have a hard time with it sometimes. Luckily I was pretty close to the kitchen so I ran there and stopped her. I showed her how she has to take the plastic wrapper off before she puts it in the microwave….just so that if she does it again she might remember to take it off.

This morning, Nicci dumped out all Lionel’s clothes on the floor in his room. I went in there and told her to clean up. She then looked at me and said, “I don’t like you mommy!” Whoa, she is starting young…

We went to the library earlier today and I turned my back for a few seconds to look for a book and all of a sudden  I started to hear a very loud alarm. I turned around and Nicci had opened one of the emergency exit doors. Everyone in the library looked at us and Nicci looked really worried and embarrassed. A very nice librarian came and told Nicci it was okay and that she was going to make the alarm stop. I had to bite my lip so that I would not start smiling…because I thought it was kind of funny. I’m so used to the kids doing things that make people look at me so all the attention didn’t really bother me. When the alarm stop she turned to me and said, “I want to go home mommy.” Poor little girl.

We love little Nicci!

Tonight we went to the mall, Ross and Costco. We also ate at Red Robin. The kids did so great at the restaurant. I remember when they were younger how going to the restaurant would be crazy, now when they are a little older they behave better and listen more to us. They got a balloon on the way out and they were very happy. The kids insisted in bringing the balloons into Ross. It was kind of nice though, because if they ran away from us or hid under some clothing racks we could see them because of the balloons. I found a pair of pants, a nice sweater and a belt. Eric found the cutest church outfits for the boys at Sears. I will take some pictures of the boys on Sunday and post here. We also found some cute clothes for Lionel. Almost all Lionel’s clothes are worn by Jordan now. Lionel looks so confused sometimes when I put his old clothes on Jordan. He asks me why Jordan is wearing his clothes…cute boy.  Lionel asked to go potty in the mall once tonight. He is doing so well.

The boys were so cute tonight when we put them to bed. They kept laughing at each other….I just stood there outside their door and listened. I love my kids!

Life

Life is good. It’s getting colder outside but I really enjoy fall. The kids were so excited this morning when I took them on a walk and they got to wear their mittens. The kids are doing well and are so funny sometimes. This morning Nicci and Lionel were playing “mom and dad.” I have never seen them play this before. Lionel was holding a bag and Nicci told him, “Bye, Bye daddy. Daddy is going to work.” Lionel then said, “Hug and a kiss, hug and a kiss”, as he walked up to Nicci and gave her a hug and a kiss. It was so cute. They were copying what Eric and I do every morning before he goes to work. It made me laugh.

Jordan is getting braver and braver and has taken a few short steps before he falls. He finally cut his first tooth last Sunday. That made me very excited. My little boy is finally getting some teeth.

I have been busy reading books during the day when the kids are calm and watch one of my favorite shows, “The Ghost whisperer” at night when the kids have gone to bed. I love that show.

I’m trying to decide if I should start to potty train Lionel next week. It would be so nice to have him out of diapers….I’m just not so excited about the whole process with accidents in the beginning and stuff…but we need to just do it! I will be happy when its over. I will let you know how it goes.

Lionel’s Birthday Party!

We had a fun party for Lionel tonight. Kevin, Tracey and Eli came as well as Corey, Jen and their kids. We had taco soup and I made a cake with Thomas the train on it. It didn’t turn out perfect but it was fun to make it. The kids played all afternoon and had fun. I love to have family over.

Lionel opening his presents from grandma and grandpa. He got two trains!

Lionel’s Thomas the train cake. A part of the cake fell down and I tried to fix it but the damage was already done. Lionel didn’t notice though so it was fine.

Ready to party!!

Lionel was so cute when he tried to blow out the candle.

Jordan is cute in his party hat

Happy Nicci
