"If you know someone who has lost a child or anybody who's important to them, and you're afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died, they didn't forget they died. You're not reminding them. What you're reminding them of is that you remembered that they lived, and that's a great, great gift" - Elizabeth Edwards

Nice Sunday

I am so happy we have a three day weekend!! I love to have Eric home for an extra day! Things are going well. Lionel had his 18 month check up on Tuesday. I lost the paper where they wrote his height and weight, but I remember that he now weighs 25 lbs. He only gained one pound since his 15 month check up. He is in the 50th % for height and 25-50% for weight. Nicci weighed 29 lbs when she was 18 months!!! 4 lbs heavier at the same age, crazy! It was a sad appointment for Lionel. He has been going to the doctor so many times with Jordan that he knows exactly what happens there. He started crying the minute we went into the examination room. It was so sad, he got so upset when I took his shoes and clothes off. First he begged and begged for me to put his clothes back on and then when I didn’t do that he started begging to hold his shoes so I gave him one that he held the entire time we were there. My sweet little boy. He got two shots.

Cedar is doing great too. He makes us feel so loved. Whenever we come home from somewhere he gets so excited and happy! I love it when he crawls up in our laps or falls asleep by our feet. I have been feeling very busy and a little stressed lately taking care of the kids and potty training a puppy…but Cedar is doing so great and lets us know when he needs to go out. He learned very quickly.

Jordan is doing really well with eating solids. He loves it! He rolls everywhere now. He is so fun to watch when he rolls from one side of the room to the other.  The kids have been waking up really, really REALLY early lately. Nicci woke up at 5.15 twice last week…not very fun. We made her go back to bed but she still got up again at 6.15. Their rooms get so bright in the morning that we need to put up some dark drapes or blankets in their windows to see if that will keep some of the morning light out and hopefully help them sleep a little longer. I would love it if I got to sleep until 7…zzzzzzzzzz

It has been raining all week…not very fun…the kids love to be outside and they go crazy if we are inside too much. Hopefully we will get some nicer weather next week.

Here are some recent pics.

Cedar Playing in our backyard

Two Videos

Here are two videos. One is of Jordan a few weeks ago and one is of Cedar playing. Enjoy.

Washing the Car and Little Feet

Today Eric and the kids washed the car. Cedar sat and watched them and ran around and played. He is such a good dog and so cute. He loves to play with his toys and he sleeps a lot. Potty training is going great but I can’t wait until he is 100% potty trained.

Earlier today Eric painted some our doors. We didn’t know Lionel had escaped and gone downstairs and walked on one of the doors until we saw this: Busted!!!

So then we let him sit down so we could take a picture

Newest Merrill Family Member!

We are pleased to welcome our newest member, full of love and energy, Cedar!  We adopted Cedar from Collar of Hope dog rescue.  He is about 4 months old.  He’s a lab mix and just very good tempered.  So far he has done remarkably well with our over loving children and is progressing great with potty training and crate training.  We’re very happy to have cedar as a member of our family!

Mmm...toys...

You looking at me?

You want this? Come and get it!

Alright! You asked for it!

Sleepy...must...not...sleep.

Viking Fest and Bye Bye Tree

The city of Poulsbo had its annual Viking fest this weekend. We went to a parade on Saturday. It was a lot of fun. The kids got a lot of candy and enjoyed looking at all the different people in the parade. When we came home the kids played and Eric decided to use his chain saw and cut down a tree in our backyard. We have never liked that tree, if it had been an apple tree or something we would have loved it and kept it, but it just took up space. It also had some non edible berries on it and we worried the kids would eat them. Later on we want to plant some fruit trees in the backyard, have a vegetable and flower garden. I have a lot of plans I want to do. This year we are focusing on fixing the inside of the house and next year we can do more things to our yard.

Tree on the ground. Eric had a lot of fun cutting it down.

Sleeping on the Floor

Nicci has always been a very deep sleeper. She sleeps on a toddler bed that we got from a friend. When we got it it had a side rail that prevented her from falling out of bed. It had a few loose screws that we couldn’t tighten so eventually it broke and fell off. Ever since she has been sleeping without a side rail. Sometimes she falls out of bed but she seldom wakes up when she does. She just continues to sleep on the floor. This is how we found her the other night when we went to check on the kids before we went to bed ourselves. I think we need to get a new side rail.

My Cute Little Jordan!

He is so stinking cute!! He is so easygoing and happy all the time. We call him our angel child… Yesterday we fed him rice cereal for the first time. He really liked it. Eric took some pictures. Jordan has rolled over from back to belly and belly to back a few times. He doesn’t do it every day yet. He loves to play with his feet. He loves his jumparoo. He smiles at everyone he sees.He is so easy to put to bed. All I do is wrap him up in a blanket and put him in his bed and he falls asleep by himself after a few minutes. He only occasionally fusses when he goes to sleep, but most of the time he just lays there quietly before he goes to sleep. I wish I had known with the other two kids how important it is to early teach your kids to learn how to fall asleep on their own, without rocking or bouncing them. Jordan is so good at it. He will be 5 months in 9 days!

Here are some pics of my angel child:

Hmm…I’m not so sure about this…

Let’s try some more…

Maybe I like it…

Yes, I think I do!

Mother’s Day!

I had a wonderful Mother’s day! Eric made chocolate chip pancakes, did all the dishes, played with the kids and cleaned. I didn’t have to do anything all day! He just wanted me to relax. He also let me sleep in…He is so nice!!…I love him! He gave me these nice flowers and they make my house smell so good! Thanks babe! I’m so grateful to be a mom!

Zoo and an Update

Today we went to the Zoo with Eric’s family. It was a gorgeous day outside and we all got a little red from the sun. The kids woke up with runny noses but they did fine anyways. They had a lot of fun and liked all the animals. We watched a show with different animals and the kids also fed goats and played at a playground. After the Zoo we went to Corey and Jennifer’s house and had a delicious dinner, talked, relaxed and played some wii. When we came home the kids were so exhausted!! They went to sleep in like a few seconds.

Yesterday, we went and got our family pictures taken. Nicci who was a little stinker last year when we took family pics did great this year…she sat still and was very obedient….Lionel however did terribly…he didn’t want to sit still and wanted to run out of the room…over and over again. Some people that were sitting outside the room was laughing so hard. I would have been laughing too… We must have looked crazy funny, two parents trying to battle with three little kids and try to get them to sit still and smile at an appropriate time. At the end we were sweating so hard and even the photographer looked a little tired haha.  We did get some very nice family pictures and a really cute pic of all the kids together. Eric and I got a cute pic of us together too.  It was the individual shots that were hard…Nicci did fine but by the time it was Lionel’s turn he  had had it and we got one pic that was okay but he doesn’t really look happy…oh well we tried. Jordan did sooo well! We got a super cute pic of him!!!!  I can’t wait to get them and put them up on the wall! We will get them on Saturday.

We got a “new” nice blue sectional couch downstairs off of Craigslist. Eric has worked so hard down in the family room, it looks so nice!! We just need to finish some small things and then I wanna show you a before and after pic.

Lionel is 18 months now! Hello Nursery!!

It’s Mother’s day tomorrow. I’m so grateful to be a mom to my beautiful three children!

Here are some pics from today. These are the ones we took with my camera. More will come. Tracey took some really cute ones too.
