"If you know someone who has lost a child or anybody who's important to them, and you're afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died, they didn't forget they died. You're not reminding them. What you're reminding them of is that you remembered that they lived, and that's a great, great gift" - Elizabeth Edwards

Yellow Day at Paladin

It all started about 2 weeks ago.  At work we like to play games to keep ourselves entertained.  It often includes trivia.  Well this particular trivia was about each other.  So we were all asked to submit a little known fact about ourselves.  I decided to reveal my least favorite color, which happens to be yellow.  But more than that I told the elaborate story as to why it is my least favorite color.  It all started a cold winter using kindergarten.I was coloring the typical 5 year old picture of a house with maybe a tree in the yard, a cloud or two in the sky, and a bright yellow sun in the sky.  There in lies the problem.  The sun was yellow. the paper was white. Now we all know that yellow crayon doesn’t contrast well against white paper.   Nevertheless I refused to have a purple sun like some of my classmates.  So I colored a yellow sun.  But it was hard!  I remember distinctly how hard I had to push so that it would be bright enough to see!  I remember the frustration of broken yellow crayons that had to be carefully pieced together back into the box.  No, this did not please me.  Nor was I very forgiving at 5.  So I held a grudge.  And over the years I just got used to this grudge.  It’s 2nd nature to me now.  I simply don’t like yellow.  In fact, I hate yellow crayons.  To this day i HATE yellow on white crayon drawings. Be honest, you do to.  You can’t stand the way your eyes never quite focus on the edges of the yellow object.

Anyways, some of my fellow employees gave me a hard time about my distaste for yellow.  one day I found a yellow sticky note stuck to my monitor.  Another day my pens were replaced by yellow highlighters.  but then a week passed so I thought it was forgotten.  But then there was yellow day.  And as the saying goes, a picture says a thousand words, here’s what it happened.

Moral of the story?  Never divulge things you don’t like, things that annoy you, or things that can in anyway be used to irritate you!

A Day in Seattle!

Yesterday we went to Seattle. We have a friend visiting us this week and we wanted to show her some places there. We went to Pike’s place and the Pacific Science Center. Nicci had a lot of fun. We took her there in June last year too. It’s fun to look at the pictures and see how much she has grown. This year Nicci enjoyed the exhibits so much more! She loved to play with everything she saw.

Cute Nicci!

Nicci loves to talk to Eric on the phone. Eric usually calls her in the morning when she wakes up. She gets so excited to talk to him. I put him on speaker phone so we can all hear him. Nicci asks for Eric almost every morning, especially on Mondays after the weekend. Almost every Monday she wakes up and both asks and searches for him all over the house. She looks at me and says “Da-da?, Da-da?”  She loves her daddy.

New Hobby!

I had so much fun today!  Eric’s cousin Carrissa showed me how to make cute bows and hair clips for Nicci! It was so much fun and easier than I thought. Well, the bows were a little bit harder so Carrissa made those for me, but I made the flower clips. I was so sad when I had to leave because I wanted to make more, but the kids needed to take their naps. Time flies when you are having fun. We are going to make some more next week. I’m also going to get some of my own stuff so I can do it at home too. Nicci will be so cute!

Beautiful Nicolina!

We love you Nicolina!

I Love My Kids!

Here are some pictures of my cute kids. They are growing so fast. I know I say that a lot but it’s so true. Lionel has started to learn how to sit up. Sometimes he sits on the floor by himself for a few seconds before he falls over. He likes to eat solids a lot more now. It took a while for him to get used to it, but now he eats baby oatmeal twice a day. He loves it. He has also started to touch everything. He loves to pull my hair. One morning I was holding him and a glass of juice and before I noticed, he reached out and grabbed the glass and I got juice all over me. He has started to roll from one side of the living room to the other. It’s so fun to watch. Lionel adores Nicci.  I think they will be good friends.

Go Nicci!

Nicci did number 2 in her potty today! Yay for Nicci!

Easter!

On Sunday morning we had an Easter egg hunt. Nicci had a lot of fun trying to find all the eggs. She got so excited when she saw the candy. Nicci got a bubble pistol from the Easter bunny. She loves it. We also bought her a cute Easter dress. Lionel decided to take a nap during the egg hunt. We had a great day!

A Fun Day!

Yesterday, Eric’s cousin Bryce got married in the Seattle temple. It was a very nice day! We got to see a lot of family and eat delicious food and dessert. The kids were very well behaved and we had a good day! We got a lot of cute photos.

She loved to play and spend time with her grandparents

We had a two hour break between the luncheon and the reception. Luckily they had some toys at the church for the kids to play with. Nicci liked to play with the cars.

Nice Days!

We had really nice and warm weather for two days! We took the opportunity to take the kids to the park and spent as much time as possible outdoors. Nicci loves to be outside. One afternoon we were outside for almost 3 hours. I don’t think we will be spending much time indoors this summer, (weather permitting). She just loves to run around and look at everything. She is very curious about animals, especially dogs, cats or birds. Nicci has learned to buckle herself into her booster seat and her stroller. So now Nicci has this new game at home were she buckles herself in and then says, “Help please,” (but it sounds more like ‘haa easssse’) and we unbuckle her. Then she buckles herself in again and asks for help to be unbuckled. This can continue on for a long time. Nicci also loves to dress up, especially in funny hats. We have had a cowboy hat for a while and she has never really shown any interested in it until now. Now she will put it on and walk around and say hat, hat!

Two days ago I thought Nicci got pink eye again and took her to the doctor. Her eyes were so watery and runny. The doctor said that she didn’t have an eye infection but instead we found out she had ear infections in both ears. It was caught at an early stage so I’m happy we went to the doctor. Nicci really likes the medicine she takes for the ear infection. It tastes like bubble gum….hehe yuuuum…Nicci also is in this stage right now when she wants to do everything herself. She wants to zip up her coat and put her shoes on. I just wait and let her try until she gets frustrated enough to ask for help. She is so cute. Anyways, here are some pictures.
