"If you know someone who has lost a child or anybody who's important to them, and you're afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died, they didn't forget they died. You're not reminding them. What you're reminding them of is that you remembered that they lived, and that's a great, great gift" - Elizabeth Edwards

Welcome To the World!

My sister had a baby early this morning! She was delivered by a c-section after 13 hours of labor.
She is naming her baby Cambrianna Iola Elisabeth Angelini. Her nickname will be Cami. She weighed 10 lbs 1 oz and measured 20 inches. Cami was even a few oz bigger than Nicolina was! Isabelle is recovering well and they are staying at the hospital for a few days. Nicolina has a new cousin!! Congrats!!

I found this nice poem today! Its a nice poem for every mom!

*Before I was a Mom,
I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed.
I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.

*Before I was a Mom,
I cleaned my house each day.

I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.

I didn’t worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.

I never thought about immunizations.

*Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.

Pooped on. Spit on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.

I slept all night.

*Before I was a Mom,

I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests. Or give shots.

I never looked into teary eyes and cried.

I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.

I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

*Before I was a Mom,

I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn’t want to put it down.

I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn’t stop the hurt.

I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.

I never knew that I could love someone so much.

I never knew I would love being a Mom.

description of photo

*Before I was a Mom,
I didn’t know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.

I didn’t know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.

I didn’t know that bond between a mother and her child.

I didn’t know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

*Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.

I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn’t know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom!

The Zoo and Changes For Nicolina!

On Saturday our friends Dave and Melissa invited us to go to the Zoo with them. We were very excited to go. The night before we sat in the car driving home from the grocery store when we remembered that we didn’t have a stroller for Nicci. It would be less fun to have to carry Nicci the whole day at the zoo. Our stroller got destroyed on the way back from Sweden. The two front tires were broken. I’m sure we can fix it but we haven’t ordered the new tires yet. So we decided that we would buy a little compact stroller for Nicolina.

She just loves to sit in it. It’s the first time for her to sit in a stroller without being in her car seat. She is a big baby now…hehe. We had a fun day at the zoo. It was very warm outside and we enjoyed ourselves in the sunshine.

Nicolina is getting more and more mobile. She can now roll from back to belly and vice versa. She rolls all over the house now. She is starting to get into things a lot more than before. She especially loves all the cords to Eric’s speakers. We have to watch her a lot more. Some day I will get a video clip of her rolling everywhere. We have started to teach her to sleep without being swaddled. I’m sure its going to take a while but it will be worth it in the end. She has started to break out and wake herself up so we decided that it’s time for her to learn how to fall asleep and sleep with her arms free. For a couple of days now she has been sleeping with one arm free and soon we are going to release the other one. Then our next quest is to get her to sleep in her own room during the night. We have a baby monitor that will help me feel more relaxed. She is growing so fast!

Yesterday we had two couples over for dinner. One of the couples has a 1-year old and he weighs about the same as Nicolina. Haha! They are like six months apart and still the same size. It’s so funny…! My big baby… Nicolina’s 6-month checkup is coming up pretty soon. I’m excited to see how much she has grown. First I need to find her a pediatrician here. I hope I can find her a nice one that we both like. Yesterday when the 1-year old boy was here I realized how much we are going to have to change our decorations in ways to baby proof our house as Nicolina grows older. He was just getting into a lot of things. So that will be an adventure in the future!

This is a collage that Eric made on the plane back to the States. There are pictures from our stay in Sweden.

Life is Fun!

We have cabel TV now!! Yay! The only bad thing is that I’m already addicted to like….three shows..bad, bad me! Yesterday we finished Nicolina’s room. There are still some things I want to have in there, like a little bookcase, her name on the wall and stuff, but we are going to get that later. I think it looks very cute. Here is a picture of her crib.

We also bought a high chair for Nicolina. We found a nice one at Target. She just loves to sit in it. It’s a lot easier to feed her in it too.
One thing I love about living here is how close we are to everything. It takes 10 minutes to go downtown, 5 minutes to SuperWalMart, SuperTarget, a mall, plus other small stores. When we lived in the small town of Rexy we had to go half an hour to Idaho Falls to get to those kind of stores. I love it here. I try to go on a walk with Nicolina everyday. It’s so cool that it’s January and I can wear shorts and flip flops. I don’t have to bundle Nicci up with a lot of clothes when we go outside either. Our apartment looks so nice now, when all the boxes are gone. I have posted two new videos and some pictures of our apartment. Go ahead and take a look!

We are Home!

Now we have been living in San Antonio for five days. We really love it here. The apartment is so nice and big! We have almost unpacked everything. It was a lot of work but the apartment is finally starting to look nice. Eric likes his internship. Our first Sunday here we realized that two other couples that also went to BYU-Idaho, are here doing internships too. So it’s nice to know some people that we can hang out with. It was a long, long drive to get here. We drove for 20 hours. We stopped one night in New Mexico and another in a little town two and a half hours from San Antonio. We have been too busy to be able to just drive around and explore the city yet. Soon we will do that though. So far we have only been to WalMart. I will take some pictures of the apartment when we are done unpacking. Nicolina has gotten so much better at sitting on the floor by herself. She is growing so fast!

Fun Days!

Right now we have about five more days before we go home to the States. I’m getting so excited to get to San Antonio and our new apartment. We found out that we are getting the bigger apartment that is 1000 sq ft. The bigger apartment looks like this.

I think I’m going to love San Antonio. These last couple of days I have spent a lot of time with some old friends. It’s so much fun to see them again. It’s very exciting to hear about what’s going on in their lives. Last night, mom, dad, me, Eric and Nicolina went to a nice Greek restaurant to eat. The food was delicious! I had some nice chicken and yummy tsatsiki. Nicolina is 5 months now and continues to grow everyday. She is so much fun. She coos and babbles all the time. She has almost mastered the skill of sitting by herself on the floor. Right now she only needs a little bit of support. I have a cute picture when Nicolina is wearing some of her new Swedish clothes I bought for her.

I’m so grateful for everything my family has done for us this month. It has been so nice to spend time with them, eat my mom’s yummy food, and watch them interact with Nicolina. They really love her and she loves the attention she gets from them. I’m sure she is going to wonder when we go home why it got so quiet all of a sudden. Some friends to us gave us a very nice painting the other day. They are both artists so they painted it. Right now my life is such an adventure. Wow! I hope the trip back to the States will go smoothly for us. My sister is going to have her little baby girl very soon now. We are so excited for her and Chuck!!

Happy New Year!

We can’t believe how fast the time goes by. We have been here for two weeks now, and have two left to go. We are having so much fun with my family and are making many fun memories. We had a great Christmas Eve. Santa came and gave us gifts! Nicolina said Hi to Santa!

Eric and I went swimming one day. Fun, fun! I have done a lot of shopping. Most of the things I have bought are for Nicolina. Hehe only a few things for me and Eric. We went out to see a lighthouse out by the coast one day. It was very windy but fun! One day we listened to my dad playing in the bell tower in my city. He played a lot of nice Christmas songs. I have received a lot of nice children’s books that I can read to Nicolina when we get home. They are books that I read as a kid.

We have shown Eric different parts of Gavle. We still haven’t gotten any snow! It’s so weird to be here and everything is green. It’s not how I remembered it. I can’t believe how fast Nicolina is growing! She rolled over from belly to back for the first time yesterday. So now she can do it both ways. She has started to drink from a bottle now, which is really nice. Eric likes to feed her. Soon she will be 5 months. My sweet little girl… We had a fun New Years Eve with lots of good food and nice fireworks. Nicolina had a little bit of a fever so she stayed inside and watched us with my mom. She also stayed up really late for some weird reason. She wanted to go to bed far later than we did. At 1.00 am she finally fell asleep. She must have known that everyone was up and didn’t want to miss all the fun. I’m getting so excited to move to San Antonio. I’m not excited for the car ride down there though. Blah, two whole days in a car….boring! Well I have posted some more pictures in our Sweden trip folder. Check them out!
