"If you know someone who has lost a child or anybody who's important to them, and you're afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died, they didn't forget they died. You're not reminding them. What you're reminding them of is that you remembered that they lived, and that's a great, great gift" - Elizabeth Edwards

We are in Sweden!

Now we have been in Sweden for five days. Before we went here we visited my sister and her husband down in Provo. My brother Pierre also came and they all got to see Nicolina for the first time. It’s nice to be in Sweden! We are having so much fun here. It’s so nice to relax after the move from Rexburg. It’s fun to see my family again and eat my mom’s food. Yummy. The trip went very well. Nicolina did so well. She had a little bassinet in the airplane where she slept during the trip.

The trip was long though. We were exhausted when we arrived. Eric and I have adjusted to the time difference while Nicolina still is trying. She is up and awake more and more every day now. The first days she slept almost the whole day and stayed up at night. Even if we got her up she would fall asleep in the bouncer and so on. Nicolina just loves all the attention she gets from all her uncles, aunts, and grandparents. She just smiles really big. It was fun when Eric met my autistic sister Jasmine. She gave him a big hug. During these days we have been Christmas shopping, driving around in the city showing Eric things and just been relaxing. We went to IKEA one day and I bought a lot of nice things. Eric has played a lot of video games with my siblings. They love it. We are so grateful for the opportunity to be here.
I have posted all the pictures we have taken so far in the Fall/Winter 2007 folder. Check them out!

My Green Card!

I was approved for my green card!! We can go home to Sweden for Christmas! Yaaaay! We are so excited. We were not sure if we were going to be able to go since my green card wasn’t showing up. We had two days left before we were going to change the date on our tickets. Then I went to school to have one last lunch with Jillian and Sylvia.

When our lunch was over I ran into my old International adviser. He asked me how I was doing and I told him that we had been waiting for the green card for almost 4 months. He thought that sounded really long and said that he was going to call and ask what was going on with my green card. He knows a lot of people that work with that kind of stuff. So he called and they said that I had been approved, the card was on the way but there was no way it could arrive here before Monday. So my international adviser said that I could go to the Immigration office in Idaho Falls and get my passport stamped with a sign that said that I had been approved, but I didn’t have the card yet. With this sign I will be able to re-enter the country again when we go back. It was really an answer to all our prayers that I accidentally ran into Oswald…wow…we feel so blessed. I went and got my stamp today!
Now we are packing like CRAZY! Today we got our moving van and we are going to store all our stuff down in Utah while we are gone. We will be gone almost a whole month! We are going to have so much fun! Nicolina is going to see her grandpa and all her aunts and uncles for the first time! It will be the second time for grandma. It will be so fun for Eric to see Sweden. I have so much I want to show him! I got a haircut two days ago and I love it! Well I need to continue to pack now!

Nicolina in the Snow!

We finally got some snow last night. We have been waiting for it. We usually get snow a lot earlier than this. I took Nicolina outside and she looked around at this weird, white stuff on the ground. She closed her eyes when snowflakes touched her face. Cute girl. I took some pictures of her in the snow!

Mommy, I don’t think I like this! (Nicolina making her first snow angel)

Saturday Fun!

Today Nicolina met Santa Clause! We went to a baby shop and they gave everyone a free picture with Santa. I was a little bit nervous that she would get scared but she just gave him a funny look and we got the picture taken.

Nicolina kept me up very late last night. She finally decided to go to bed at 12.30 am. It’s not the first time. She usually goes to bed late one night every other week or so. Nicolina absolutely loves her solid food. It makes me happy and it’s fun to feed her. Eric and I watched a fun movie last night that was called Ratatouille. It was a good movie! Today I wanted to write and tell you all how Eric and I met. It was my first semester at college. One night in the middle of October my friend and I went to a choir concert. When it was done I wanted to go home but she wanted to go latin dancing. I hated latin dancing, mostly because I wasn’t any good. But I followed her along. The first person I saw when we walked towards the door into the dance was a very handsome man. Eric! I remember I gave him a tiny little smile, then I got shy and hurried into the dance. The next thing I know, someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and looked into the most beautiful sparkling eyes. It was Eric. He said hi and asked me if I was there with anyone. (A guy) I said no and then he asked me to dance. After about two songs he said “Thank you” and I went back to find my friend and he went to his. I watched him as he walked across the room and saw that he was there with like 5 other girls from his apartment complex. I got a little bit jealous when I saw him.

However, another guy asked me to dance and I forgot about Eric for a while. But then while I was dancing I saw him dancing with another girl and followed him with my eyes. (Stalker-I know). After the second dance I sat down and wanted to go home. My friend wanted to stay longer and I said ok. (I know I sound boring, but I was just tired alright!) Shortly after that, I felt a tap on my shoulder and Eric asked me to dance again! We danced for the rest of the night. It was so easy to talk to him. He had the cutest smile and personality. I thought he looked younger than he was too. I thought he was a freshmen like me and told him so. I was very embarrassed when he told me he was 23. Whoops. At the end of the dance he asked me if I had ever gone country dancing before. I hadn’t and he asked me if I wanted to do that with him the following Wednesday. I got butterflies in my belly and said yes. I gave him my phone number. We went country dancing and then we started dating exclusively. Three months after our first date, Eric proposed to me and we got married on July 8th of 2006. We are so happy together and I’m so grateful for all that he does for me. He is the best man I have ever known! Now he is the best daddy to our beautiful daughter too! Nicolina and I are so blessed to have him in our lives.

Nicolina is 4 Months!

Nicolina is four months today! Hooray! She is getting so big. I thought she was going to have her 4 month check up today but I was wrong and it’s on Tuesday. On Tuesday she will get two shots, poor baby. Last time she got shots she got a fever and was very cranky for 2 days. Hopefully this time will be better. Nicolina had her first solid food today! The doctor told us to give her rice cereal for babies the first time, and so we did. It was really fun. She made some funny faces but didn’t spit up much at all. I think she liked it! Now I’m going to give her some everyday. We fed her in the walker since we want to wait to buy a high chair until we get to San Antonio. One less thing to move!

Nicolina has gotten very shy lately. If a person she doesn’t know looks at her and talks to her she starts to cry. She gets especially scared if it is a guy. Her cry sounds very different from when she is tired or hungry. Eric and I call it her “I am afraid cry.” Hopefully she will get less shy with time.
When Nicolina is on her belly she has started to pull up her legs in crawling motion, but her body is still on the ground. She is working hard! Maybe she will crawl early. She always wants to sit up straight too. She likes the walker a lot better than the bouncer because the walker makes her sit up with a straight back.

Eric found out yesterday that he is going to earn 19 dollars an hour instead of 17 during his internship. Yay! I can’t believe that Eric is done with college in just about a week. It’s so weird to think that he is done with all his homework, tests and projects. Now he can start working and we can enter a new chapter in our lives. We are done with the college years…for now!
I’m packing a little bit everyday. Some parts of the apartment has boxes everywhere. I’m trying to make everything as organized as possible. We are still waiting for my green card to come. Without it, we can’t go to Sweden for Christmas. We then have to reschedule and go for a month in the middle of April instead. Even if we most of all want to go for Christmas it still would be nice for Eric to have vacation between his internship and when he starts working for real. Please green card, come!

Happy Days!

Eric and I found a nice apartment in San Antonio and decided that we are going to rent it. Eric talked to the managers yesterday and they have an opening for us. We sent them a check with the deposit so soon the apartment will be ours. We are really excited. This apartment is so nice and a lot bigger than the one we have now. I’m already dreaming about how I want to decorate it….

On Saturday we invited Megan and Daniel to watch a movie with us. It was a weird movie, but we had fun! Last night we went to an early Christmas party with our ward. Good food and music. This was the last activity we had with this ward. Our next ward will be a family ward. I think that will be fun and a new experience.

These last two days I have been watching a Swedish show called “Sune’s Jul” on YouTube. It’s hilarious and I have had a lot of good laughs. Sune is this little boy that lives with his crazy family and they are trying to prepare for Christmas. I haven’t watched it since I was a kid and this brought back a lot of memories. We got some more moving boxes yesterday so now I can pack some more next week. People have been so nice giving them to us. I can’t believe it’s already December. Time really flies. We don’t really have any snow yet. It’s so weird. Last year we had a ton of snow this time of the year. I took some fun Christmas pictures of Nicolina that I put in the album, Fall/Winter 2007/Nicolina’s First Christmas. Check them out! I have noticed that Nicolina’s hair gets lighter and lighter everyday now. It makes me wonder if she is going to be blonde. Before she was born Eric and I guessed what hair color we thought she would get. I guessed she would be a brunette and Eric guessed blonde. Well, I guess only time will tell.

Oh, and my visiting teacher Michelle had her baby on Friday! Yay! Check out her blog! I’m so excited for her! I’m excited to get to see her baby. Poor Nicolina has gotten really dry on her elbows, poor girl; I guess it’s the dry winter air that does it. I put lotion on her a couple of times a day. Hopefully she will get better soon. Nicolina had a weird night last night. She would wake up and cry for like 2 seconds, fart, and then fall back asleep. She did it three times and I was sitting here wondering why. Now I know. I ate chocolate yesterday… I have noticed that whenever I eat chocolate, Nicolina gets tons of gas….poor girl. No more candy for me! I’m so grateful I have been blessed to have Eric and Nicolina in my life. They make me so happy. It brings me so much joy to know that we are an eternal family. I love them so much!
